First Birthday Celebration in March.
Sixty four women celebrated the Point Lonsdale VIEW Club’s first Birthday lunch at 360Q Queenscliff with friendship and fun.The first birthday is a significant milestone for the Club as we commenced in a very challenging year.
Despite this, interest Groups and fundraising activities have been enthusiastically supported. The Club now supports four primary students through The Smith Family’s Learning for Life sponsorship program.

2020 Christmas Raffle
Two of our committee members, Alicia and Sue, very enthusiastically organised a Christmas wheelbarrow raffle to raise significant funds towards sponsoring our first students through the Smith Family in 2021.
In December many members volunteered to sell raffle tickets, outside the two local IGA stores at Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff, during the peak periods. Conditions were not easy as mask wearing and hand sanitising was needed, and often the weather conditions were challenging. The local community were extremely supportive and it was also a wonderful opportunity to promote the VIEW organisation.
The raffle was drawn at the Club’s Christmas picnic lunch at a local park.
A VIEW member’s sister, Marjorie of Maldon, was the lucky winner. Marjorie, said “How lovely to be the recipient of the wonderful wheelbarrow of goodies. I am delighted to hear the raffle raised over $3000 and I was very happy to support the work of The Smith Family with young people – a great result.”
Wheelbarrow Raffle Exceeds Expectations

Point Lonsdale Off and Running in 2020
Newly established in 2020, the Point Lonsdale VIEW Club held two luncheon meetings before COVID-19 Stage 3 restrictions were enforced. Our Inauguration Luncheon meeting in March was cancelled. This was not a good start for our VIEW Club but despite lack of luncheon meetings our membership has reached ninety members.
Several members quickly established eight Interest Groups and members have participated in small walking, cycling and outdoor photography groups between Stage 3 lockdown periods. The Committee also organised a telephone tree contacting all members during Stage 3 lockdown.
An enthusiastic group of ten Craft Group members made over 200 masks for club members and the community. These wonderful ladies raised $2,090.
The mask making exercise epitomises what VIEW is all about, from the lady who made the suggestion, the ladies who gave their time, materials, and power, right down to the members and their families who bought the masks said Vice-President; Sue Bell. It was a real bonding time for those who participated.
The mask fundraiser combined with a raffle has raised enough money for the Point Lonsdale VIEW Club to support our first students in 2021. The Craft Group ladies have commenced making craft items to sell at a Garden Party Fundraiser which we plan to hold on Sunday 6 December at a Bellarine property. The ladies have already made sea glass art for Christmas gifts, crochet wreaths and a few members are organising plant cuttings for a plant stall.
