About
Greensborough Evening VIEW Club was established in 1993.
Our members are offered the opportunity to enjoy various activities - monthly morning teas, knitting and scrabble groups, a yearly weekend away, day outings and games nights.
Best of all, we offer the opportunity to meet new friends while sharing a two course meal and listening to a guest speaker.
Our seven Learning for Life students are the major focus of our fundraising.
We are dedicated to making a difference, along with The Smith Family to disadvantaged children.
If you would like to join us for dinner one evening, we would love to hear from you.

Visit to State Library
Friday 12th May, 31 members and guests had a visit to the State Library taking in all it had to offer.
We then made our way to William Angliss where we were all extremely delighted with our 5 star lunch provided by students at this well known teaching institute.
A fabulous meal which only cost $20 per person! plus a small loading to support our 7 Learning for Life Students.
We will be back!!

2023 April Dinner Meeting
What a wonderful guest speaker!
Faye spoke of the wonderful work performed by hundreds of volunteers aboard the MERCY SHIPS - A vessel of Hope and Care.
Mercy Ships deliver a total health care program to some of the world's poorest people.
A truly inspirational talk and video which moved many members to tears.

BISHOPSCOURT DAY OUTING
Twenty ladies enjoyed a day outing to Bishopscourt.
Bishopscourt is the oldest remaining house in East Melbourne. Originally built for Bishop Charles Perry, first Anglican Bishop of Melbourne, it also doubled as Victoria's Government House in 1874-6. It has been the residence for all Melbourne's Bishops and Archbishops since its completion.
We shared a tour of the house, gardens and a lovely morning tea.

2023 March Dinner
Wow! What an eye opener.
David Key, retired Police Officer who worked as a Rescue Crewman, rescuing people from floods, bushfires, boats and anything absolutely dangerous! showed us a visual presentation of himself and his colleagues risking their lives to help others survive.
Fabulous guest speaker who left us all speechless.
2023 March Outing
A day at the Theatre to see The Mousetrap had 30 members and guests trying to solve the "mystery" of "who done it"!
Starting with a train trip into Melbourne, lunch and the theatre - a lovely day was had by all.

Michael Williams, Wardrobe Production Manager at the Australian Ballet was our guest speaker at our AGM on Monday evening.
Michael displayed wonderful costumes and stories from ballets over the years.

Christmas Hamper Raffle
2022 December - Merry Christmas
What a fabulous night members and guests had celebrating Christmas! "Cheek to Cheek Duo" gave us all an uplifting night of music to start the festive season.
Our Christmas hamper raffle was a huge success with lots of money raised – members that were lucky enough to win, were very happy indeed!

2022 November Dinner Meeting
Jill Hauser gave a wonderful presentation with very interesting slides and commentary on changes to Melbourne over the years.
Jill ran walking tours around Melbourne for many years and has a wealth of knowledge.

BAREFOOT IN THE PARK – Theatre Outing
Thirty members and some husbands enjoyed a night at the Theatre to see Barefoot In the Park.
The Play was put on by the Heidelberg Theatre Company.
Everybody had a wonderful night.

TASMANIA TRIP
A wonderful 5 day tour of Tassie was enjoyed by 33 members, friends and partners in November.
Elie our Program Officer and trip organizer extraordinaire, did not disappoint members starting with a trip aboard the Spirit of Tasmania.
Visits to many markets including the Salamanca market in Hobart, the Deloraine Annual Craft Fair and visits to historical towns along the journey.
Tasmania turned on its finest weather including sunshine in beautiful Cradle Mountain!
A great trip was had by all.
Auctioneer Extraordinaire

2022 October
Bev Ward, famous Auctioneer and member, worked her magic at our Monday night dinner.
Our members brought along goods to be auctioned, to buy back again! all to help raise funds for our seven LfL Students.
Close to $2,000 was raised with only 58 members in attendance! This amount was helped by a Silent Auction donation prize of a 6-month Jim’s Laundry Service.
Two new members were officially welcomed by Lyn Geer. Eve Hicks and Rosemary Johansson.
We hope you have many, many happy years in VIEW.
2022 September Meeting.
Bernadette and Jeanette from Amber Community were our guest speakers.
Amber Community provide counselling and support to people impacted by road trauma and address the attitudes and behaviours of road users through education.
Amber Community is a not-for-profit organisation
Lorraine Jelley was recognized with a Making a Difference Award – Well done!
Convention, Adelaide 2022
Twelve Greensborough members enjoyed a fabulous time at Convention which was held in Adelaide.
Jennie Wynd was a very deserving winner of the George Forbes Award! This award recognizes excellent service by a VIEW member whose work has progressed the organization nationally – Well done!
We are all looking forward to Convention to be held in Hobart, 2023.
Four new members were welcomed officially to our club – Micki, Leonie, Eleni and Ann.
2022 August Dinner
During Victoria’s lockdowns local artist and ISO Chook legend, Joan Denison kept our community busy looking for the famous “chooks” hidden in various locations.
Joan gave members an insight how the chooks came to be and how her husband was kept very busy cutting old fence palings ready for painting.

Three Day Silo and Street Art Tour – Wangaratta and Benalla
26 GEVC ladies, friends and partners enjoyed the most magnificent 3 day coach tour with Lyn and Mike from Riverina Bus Lines.
Tour included Silo Art at Colbinabin, Rochester, Goorambat, Devenish, Tungamah and Street Art in Benalla.
A market stop in Rutherglen, visit to Milawa where plenty of mustards, cheeses and bread were purchased. A visit to a local Winery.
Our accommodation The Gateway Motel in Wangaratta – 5 star! Two nights where we enjoyed two dinners and full breakfasts of outstanding quality and service.
Along the journey our hosts Lyn and Mike suppled morning and afternoon teas to die for!
Lunch was enjoyed in local country pubs.
Riverina Bus Lines was beyond value for money and highly recommended.
All who attended this three day tour had a fabulous time, sharing fun and friendship with VIEW.
We can’t wait for the next trip!

2022 July Dinner
Monday night dinner meeting showed how adaptable our Club is! At the very last minute our guest speaker was diagnosed with Covid and one of our lovely ladies, Vera Lay stepped up to the plate to give us a very informative talk on Genealogy and her family tree. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
This year we have had many new members join, which is fantastic. Monday night 4 ladies, Isobel, Karen, Julie and Debbie were presented with their official name badges by Jennie Wynd.

2022 July Knitting Group
Once a month our Club offers a knitting group. Members come and knit for themselves, KOGO or just come along and enjoy a cake and a cup of tea with VIEW friends.

TK and Marie were extremely generous donating a large number of edible bouquets for our raffle, which helps support our 7 Learning for Life students.
2022 June Dinner Meeting
Ninety members and guests from Heidelberg, Banyule and Plenty Valley helped celebrate our 29th Birthday.
TK and her daughter Marie from Bliss Bouquets gave a demonstration of their incredible skill to produce beautiful edible bouquets.
Afternoon At The Theatre
2022 Outing
Twenty ladies and some partners enjoyed a Sunday afternoon watching The Beauty Queen of Leenane presented by the Heidelberg Theatre Company.
Most enjoyed a light lunch at nearby Café’s before heading to the Theatre. A lovely afternoon indeed!
2022 June Movie Night
Fifteen members and some partners had a relaxing time at the opening night of ELVIS at the movies. A most enjoyable movie and recommend.
The Lume, Van Gogh

Recently, thirty four Members and some very lucky partners, ventured into beautiful Melbourne for what can only be described as an AMAZING experience.
The Lume, Van Gogh experience being held at the Melbourne Convention Centre, was well worth entering out on a cold Melbourne day.
Everybody thoroughly enjoyed it!
2022 May Dinner Meeting
Guest Speaker - Donalea Patman OAM, founder of “For the Love of Wildlife”.
For the Love of Wildlife was founded in 2013.
Donalea launched For the Love of Wildlife, to create a professional platform to campaign for the plight of animals in Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Donalea continues to raise awareness of the destructive forces annihilating the natural world.
Donalea shared her story, pictures and a video for our members.
Donalea helped us all to understand what we must do to help this cause.
2022 April Dinner Meeting
Guest speaker Professor Gale Spring, Adjunct Associate Professor of Scientific Photography in the School of Science at RMIT University, Melbourne, gave members an enlightening talk on some aspects of his work.
His presentation looked at the impact of photography as evidence in courts. It demonstrated how photographs can lie and mislead unless the viewer is knowledgeable of how photographs are created.
His research interest and professional practice is in the creation and interpretation of images for forensic purposes.
After 25 years at RMIT, he retired in 2013 as the Associate Dean.
He continues to consult and act as an expert witness on matters of photographic interpretation for both the prosecution and defense.
2022 April - MCG Tour
Members and partners enjoyed a wonderful day last week touring the MCG.
Travelling together by train and then a short walk to the G. The weather was kind and so made it a most enjoyable day.
John, our guide, showed us all around the various floors, rooms and of course onto the hallowed turf of the mighty G!
We finished with a lunch in the Jim Steins room and explored the MCT Museum.
All in all, we had a fabulous day.
2022 March Dinner Meeting
Guest speaker Brenda Smith, author (Two Lancashire Lasses) and Bush Walker, spoke about many fun times spent with her sister.
Brenda decided to write the book when her beloved sister passed away. Brenda shared some wonderful memories of her family and some very funny stories of herself enjoying life with her sister before she passed.
Brenda has also written a book of everyday life spent in lockdown during the Pandemic – a must have diary for Melbournians!

2022 March Luncheon
Sunday 20 March, 34 members and partners enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Shaw's Road Winery.
Beautiful surroundings, fabulous food and a great time was had by all!
2022 February
2022 has kicked off with a catch up dinner at the Greensborough Hotel.
Members were very excited to see each other, share a meal and talk about what a fantastic year we are all going to have.
We are all looking forward to our first dinner meeting in February.

Lyn Geer updated members about "all things VIEW" at our AGM.
2022 Committee was inducted and everyone is looking forward to another great year of fun and outings all helping to raise funds for our 7 Learning for Life students.
2021 December - Merry Christmas
What a wonderful night of celebration was had by all! Several Clubs in our zone joined our ladies for a Christmas Dinner to remember.
Elie and Lorraine our Program Officers organised fabulous entertainers - the Cheek to Cheek Duo. Wow! they were exceptional. After starting with some very lively Christmas carols the tempo lifted and our members and friends hit the dance floor.
It certainly was a night to remember.
Our venue, The Heidelberg Golf Club didn't disappoint either. Members were greeted by a giant, lit up Christmas koala.
Our famous Christmas raffle was a huge hit and 23 ladies left very happy indeed!
We are all looking forward to 2022.

2021 November Dinner
Finally after "lockdown 6" we were able to meet and celebrate with our members and friends.
Lyn Geer presented badges to new members Sylvana, Nadia and Karen.
Guest Speaker Colleen Woolley, a retired police sergeant of the Victorian Police who spent 19 years researching Edition 1, mostly as a hobby in the first instance for her book "Arresting Women".
Of the original 30 police women, eight were still alive pre 1997 and Colleen interviewed 7 of them.
After retiring in December 1992 Colleen served on the Committee of the Retired Police Association from 1993 and became its first female Secretary in 1996 serving in that capacity until 2004.
In late 1993 Colleen was a founding member of the Past and Present Women Police Association of Victoria and served in many capacities until 1998.
Colleen became a Justice of the Peace in Victoria in 1999 and was made a fellow of the Royal Victoria Association of Honorary Justice in 2016.
In 2004 Colleen was awarded life membership of the RPA and an Order of Australia Medal.
Colleen was a very inspirational speaker and the ladies thoroughly enjoyed her talk.

Eighteen members from three VA01 VIEW Clubs, Heidelberg, Banyule and Plenty Valley headed off together to the magnificent Mallee-Wimmera area of Victoria. The main focus of the trip was to view the amazing silo art that has been created over the past three or so years

2019 International Women's Day Kooyong
On 7th March 143 VIEW members and guests attended the Kooyong Tennis Centre to celebrate International Women's Day and hear how we can ≠Balance for Better. Some of the guests had travelled from Wodonga and Bendigo. National Vice President Annette Schlafrig delivered the Executive address.

2018 VA Gala
The 2018 VA Gala was held on Thursday 21st June at Karralyka Centre Ringwood Vic. 160 VIEW members, VIEW dignitaries and visitors enjoyed a fantastic day which had the theme "If you are happy and you know it"! Everyone wore their happy colours to brighten the shortest day of the year.
